V.A. Benefits

Good News!! St. Luke School of Medicine has been approved by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for veteran benefits. U.S. veterans and other eligible students wishing to apply for benefits should contact Dr. Charles Jogwe at 323-565-2727, or e-mail at cjogwe@stluke.edu, to receive the VA Form 22-1999. Only students enrolled in the M.D. program are eligible for these benefits. Please show the complete beginning and ending dates (month/day/year) for the term in which the student will be enrolled. No more than one year, 12 months can be certified. These benefits are effective since January 1, 2003.

Alternative Loan Program

As of Friday, March 5, 2004, St. Luke University has alternative student loans for all of its students, both USA and abroad.

There will be twelve (12) loan programs for SLUSOM students.

These alternative loans are from $18,000 to $28,000. The interest rates vary from 5%-18%. The loans are credit based. Other loans do not depend on credit, even people with prior bankrupcy can apply.

Some loans are deferred until after graduation, some have reduced repayment rates until graduation. The terms are from 5 to 12 years.

Non-USA citizens can apply for all the private loans with a USA co-signer.
